What about supply only guarantees?
For supply-only orders, Bowalker provides a 1-year product guarantee covering manufacturing defects. While this ensures the quality of the windows and doors themselves, it’s important to note that supply-only purchases do not include FENSA certification (number 33081). Consequently, the 10-year, insurance-backed installation guarantee provided by the Plastic Window Federation is also not applicable. This guarantee specifically covers issues arising from professional installation, which is not included with supply-only orders. We recommend professional installation to benefit from the full FENSA and guarantee package.
Why do I need a guarantee?
While we strive for perfection, sometimes things can go wrong. That’s why a comprehensive guarantee is essential. A guarantee protects your investment against unforeseen issues, from product defects to installation errors. It provides peace of mind, knowing that if problems arise, you’re covered. With a solid guarantee, you avoid unexpected costs and the hassle of dealing with repairs yourself, ensuring your home improvement remains a positive experience. It’s a safeguard against the unpredictable.

How do I maintain my installation?
Maintaining your windows and doors is crucial for their longevity and performance. Regular care prevents premature wear and tear, prolongs their lifespan, and preserves their aesthetic appeal. Proper upkeep also ensures optimal energy efficiency, saving you money on heating and cooling bills. Neglecting maintenance can lead to costly repairs or even replacement down the line. A little effort now can significantly extend the life of your investment.
Here's how to maintain your windows and doors:
- Clean: Wash frames and glass with mild soap and water.
- Lubricate: Spray hinges, locks, and handles with silicone.
- Check Seals: Inspect and replace damaged weather seals.
- Inspect: Look for damage and address it promptly.
- Tighten: Secure any loose screws and fixings.
- Treat Wood: Apply wood preservative to frames if needed.
- Clean Tracks: Remove debris from tracks and drains.
- Service: Consider annual professional inspection.

Is The Guarantee Transferable If I Sell My Property?
Our comprehensive guarantees are transferable, adding value to your property. Should you sell your home, the remaining guarantee coverage can be passed on to the new owners, providing them with the same peace of mind you enjoyed. A small transfer fee of £25 applies to activate this benefit and must be paid within 1-month of transfer, covering the administrative costs associated with updating the guarantee records. This transferability makes your property more attractive to potential buyers, demonstrating your commitment to quality and ensuring their investment is protected.
What does ‘Insurance Backed Guarantee’ mean?
Start to finish An insurance-backed guarantee provides an extra layer of protection for your home improvements. It’s a policy that kicks in if the company that installed your windows or doors ceases trading. In such an unfortunate event, the insurance policy covers the cost of rectifying any defects covered by the original guarantee, ensuring you’re not left stranded. This safeguard offers invaluable peace of mind, protecting your investment even if the installer is no longer around.
The Plastic Window Federation (PWF) is a trade association representing companies involved in the manufacture and installation of windows, doors, and other related products. They set standards for the industry, promote best practices, and provide consumer protection through initiatives like the insurance-backed guarantee scheme. Being registered with the PWF demonstrates a company’s commitment to quality and professionalism, giving customers confidence in their services and the products they provide. The PWF acts as an independent body, ensuring that homeowners are protected and that member companies adhere to a strict code of conduct.
