What if I want to come to the showroom?

Our showroom is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm, with Saturday morning visits available by appointment only. To ensure you receive the best service, we recommend calling ahead before visiting. This allows us to prepare for your visit and provide dedicated time to discuss your project.

Do you take a deposit?

Confirm your quote with a 40% deposit. Our surveyor will then visit your home. This deposit is 100% refundable if the survey necessitates any project price changes. For your peace of mind, your deposit indemnity is automatically registered with the Plastic Window Federation, at no extra cost, guaranteeing against loss. 50% is payable when your bespoke products arrive at our warehouse. The final 10% is payable on completion once you are completely satisfied.

How long does installation take?

Your bespoke products typically arrive within 4 weeks. Our installation schedule is usually 6-8 weeks in advance, so please let us know if your project is time-sensitive. Our expert team aims to install two average-sized windows per day, and we can provide a more accurate installation estimate during your survey.

Are you FENSA certified?

Our FENSA certification number is 33081. FENSA certification is exclusively provided where we install your windows and doors and is crucial when selling your property. This demonstrates compliance with building regulations and remains valid for the lifetime of the installation, reassuring potential buyers. In addition our installations include a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee, offering long-term peace of mind.

Modern timber sash windows utilize modern spiral balances instead of the traditional weight and pulley system found in older versions, making them easier to operate and maintain.

2. Are sash windows energy efficient?

Yes, our sash windows are very energy efficient. They are all A+ rated, meaning they meet high standards for insulation and heat retention. While triple glazing is an option for windows without astragal bars or Georgian bars, we don’t generally recommend it for sash windows. Triple glazing adds to the cost and weight of the sashes, and the improvement in energy efficiency is minimal compared to our already high-performing A+ rated double glazing. Additionally, triple glazing can detract from the elegant aesthetic of sash windows, especially those with astragal bars or Georgian bars.

3. What materials are sash windows made from?

Sash windows are traditionally made from timber, but modern versions are also available in uPVC. uPVC sash windows offer excellent durability, low maintenance, and are highly energy efficient. Timber sash windows provide a more authentic appearance for period properties and can be painted in any colour. uPVC sash windows are also available in a wide variety of colours.

4. Do sash windows need much maintenance

uPVC sash windows require minimal maintenance, typically just needing occasional cleaning. Timber sash windows may require periodic repainting or varnishing to protect the wood from the elements. Regularly checking and lubricating the sliding mechanisms of both types will ensure smooth operation.

5. Can sash windows have astragal bars or Georgian bars?

Yes, sash windows can beautifully incorporate astragal bars or Georgian bars.
