Our Commitment

Modern slavery, in all its forms, including forced labour, human trafficking, servitude, and compulsory labour, is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. Bowalker Windows Limited has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and is fully committed to ensuring that it does not occur in any part of our business or supply chain.

We are dedicated to acting ethically, responsibly, and with integrity in all our business dealings. This includes maintaining transparent relationships with suppliers, contractors, and partners, and taking all reasonable steps to ensure that the materials and services we use are sourced in a manner consistent with our values.

Bowalker is committed to implementing and enforcing effective policies, procedures, and controls to identify, assess, and mitigate any risks of modern slavery. We expect all employees, contractors, and business partners to uphold these standards and to share in our responsibility to maintain a safe, fair, and ethical working environment.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and reflects our voluntary commitment to transparency, ethical conduct, and the protection of human rights across our operations and supply chain.

Our Business and Supply Chain

Our core operations are based entirely in the United Kingdom, with all staff directly employed and installations carried out by our in-house team. We source high-performance windows, doors, and rooflights from reputable UK and EU-based manufacturers and suppliers who share our commitment to quality and compliance.

Our supply chain is relatively short and low-risk:

  • Primarily involves established UK and European partners for aluminium, uPVC, timber, glass, and hardware components.
  • No direct sourcing from high-risk countries or industries known for prevalent modern slavery risks (per UK Government and Global Slavery Index guidance).
  • We prioritise suppliers with strong UK regulatory compliance, such as those aligned with FENSA, Plastic Window Federation standards, and relevant building regulations.

Due Diligence Processes

To prevent modern slavery in our operations and supply chain, we:

  • Assess potential risks when selecting and working with suppliers, focusing on ethical labour practices.
  • Include appropriate contractual terms requiring suppliers to comply with all applicable laws, including anti-slavery legislation.
  • Monitor ongoing relationships through regular communication and performance reviews.
  • Encourage reporting of any concerns via our open-door culture and complaints procedure.

Given our small scale, direct operations in the UK, and reliance on established, compliant partners, we consider the risk of modern slavery in our business to be low. We remain vigilant and will escalate due diligence if our operations or supply chain changes (e.g., through growth or new partnerships).

Measuring Effectiveness

We actively monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our approach to preventing modern slavery through practical checks and ongoing oversight. This includes:

  • Regular review of our supplier relationships, including communication on compliance and any changes in their practices.
  • Internal assessments of our own employment standards, covering fair wages, safe working conditions, equal treatment, and confirmation that no forced labour or exploitative practices exist.
  • Tracking of any reported concerns or incidents, currently, zero cases of modern slavery or related issues have been identified or reported within our operations or supply chain.
  • Periodic team discussions to reflect on whether our awareness efforts and values-driven culture continue to support ethical standards.

We will continue to strengthen and adapt these measures as the business grows, new team members join, or our supply arrangements evolve, ensuring our commitment remains meaningful and effective over time.

Commitment to Ethical Practice

Bowalker Windows Limited has a zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to operating with integrity, ensuring fair and ethical practices in our business and supply chain.

This aligns with our core values: full responsibility for every job, never cutting corners, standing by our customers, and employing people who take pride in their work. We apply the same standards to our team and partners.

We promote:

  • Safe and fair working conditions in our operations.
  • Ethical sourcing and transparency with suppliers.
  • An open culture for raising and addressing concerns quickly.

Ethical practice is simply part of doing things properly, for our customers, team, and everyone we work with.
