Types Of Windows We Install In Haywards Heath
Sash Window
Sash Window
A sash window uses one or more framed panels that slide vertically within the frame. Common styles include double-hung, single-hung and box sash, suitable for both traditional and modern properties. We install sash windows in timber, aluminium and PVCu, with double glazing, tight seals and secure locking to improve energy efficiency, security and airflow. Key benefits include smooth operation, durable build quality, low-maintenance options like PVCu and insulated glazing that supports airtight, long-term performance.
Learn More →Flush Window
Flush Window
A flush window features a flat sash that sits level within the frame, creating a clean, seamless exterior with minimalist lines. We install flush windows in uPVC, aluminium and timber, with double glazing, airtight seals, secure locking and energy ratings up to A++ to improve efficiency, security and weather resistance while retaining a traditional look where required. Key features include a slim flat profile, smooth ventilation through opening panels, low-maintenance options such as uPVC and insulated glazing that supports airtight, long-term performance.
Learn More →A heritage window follows a traditional design that reflects the appearance of 19th- and early 20th-century windows while integrating modern security and energy-efficiency features. We install heritage windows in timber, aluminium and high-end uPVC, with realistic woodgrain finishes, period-accurate proportions, traditional detailing, double glazing, airtight seals and secure locking. Key features include strong energy efficiency, improved insulation, low-maintenance modern materials and durable construction that preserves architectural character while delivering long-term performance.
Learn More →A bay window is a multi-pane window that projects outward in a trapezoidal form, with a fixed center pane and two angled or opening side panels. We install canted bay, box bay and oriel styles in timber, aluminium and uPVC, using double glazing, airtight seals and secure locks for strong thermal and long-term performance. Key benefits include wider views, effective airflow through the side panels, space for seating or reading corners and a layout that brightens rooms while giving a greater sense of space.
Learn More →An arched window is a custom-made window with a rounded, curved, or pointed top that adds architectural character while drawing in more natural light. Styles include full semi-circle Roman arches, shallow segmental curves and sharp Gothic lancet forms, suited to both classic and modern buildings. We produce these windows in aluminium for strength and long service life, as well as timber and PVC, integrating double glazing, airtight sealing and secure hardware, with optional opening sections for controlled ventilation.
Learn More →A cottage window is a traditional style often seen as a casement or vertically sliding sash, with multiple panes divided by astragal bars. Our design variations follow a double-hung format that reflects historic glazing while giving homes a warm, classic appearance. Key benefits include modern double glazing for good thermal performance, effective airflow in opening versions and durable construction that retains traditional character while reducing upkeep in uPVC or aluminium.
Learn More →A historic window is designed to protect the architectural and heritage value of older buildings by replicating traditional construction methods. Tur windows often feature small panes, mortise-and-tenon joints, sash horns and putty-glazed glass, typically crafted in timber to match original details. Key benefits include authentic appearance, improved thermal performance through discreet double glazing and secure hardware that supports long service life while respecting the original design.
Learn More →Inspired by 1920s Art Deco and industrial design, a Crittall-style window reflects the look of original steel glazing with ultra-slim frames, large glass panes and bold black grid lines. We manufacture and install these windows in durable aluminium or uPVC, making them suitable for heritage renovations, new builds and extensions. Our Crittall-style windows combine high-performance glazing, multi-point locking for security, low-maintenance construction and a clean design that increases natural light and supports strong energy performance.
Learn More →Casement Window
Casement Window
A casement window is attached to its frame by one or more vertical hinges on the side, allowing it to swing outward like a door for effective ventilation and airflow. Available in uPVC, timber and aluminium, we install single or double-panel windows that offer unobstructed views and maximum natural light. Key features include a multi-point locking system for security, durable construction and secure sealing to reduce heat loss. We design and install each window to deliver long-lasting, energy-efficient performance across our range.
Learn More →uPVC Windows
uPVC Sash Windows
uPVC is Bowalker's most requested frame material — a rigid, multi-chambered plastic that resists warping, rotting and corrosion while delivering strong thermal efficiency, available across sliding, casement, tilt-and-turn, bay, sash and slimline styles. Exact pricing is confirmed at a free survey — download our Price Guide for typical costs. A full three-bedroom property is typically completed in 1–2 days. Every uPVC installation is FENSA-registered and backed by a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee.
Learn More →Aluminium Windows
Aluminium Sash Windows
Aluminium frames use thermally-broken 6063-T5 or 6061 alloy profiles for slim sightlines and a service life often exceeding 40 years, fitted across casement, tilt-and-turn, bifold, fixed and sash styles with a powder-coated, corrosion-resistant finish. Exact pricing is confirmed at a free survey — download our Price Guide for typical costs. Every installation is FENSA-registered and backed by a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee.
Learn More →Timber remains the most authentic choice for period and listed properties, available in hardwood or engineered softwood across casement, sash, bay, awning, fixed and sliding styles, with double glazing built in as standard. Exact pricing is confirmed at a free survey — download our Price Guide for typical costs. A full property is typically completed in 1–3 days. Every timber installation is FENSA-registered and backed by a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee, with coverage across Haywards Heath, Crawley, Brighton, Horsham and Guildford.
Learn More →Double Glazed Windows
Double Glazed Windows
Our double-glazed windows feature two glass panes separated by a sealed air or gas-filled cavity to reduce heat transfer, improve insulation and cut outside noise. We fit them with Low-E glass and advanced spacers to limit condensation and energy loss. Available in uPVC, aluminium and timber, our windows include secure multi-point locking and airtight seals. Benefits include stronger thermal performance, lower energy bills, increased natural light and durable, low-maintenance construction.
Learn More →Triple Glazed Windows
Triple Glazed Sash Windows
Triple glazing adds a third pane and second insulating cavity over standard double glazing, taking U-values as low as 0.6 W/m²K for homeowners prioritising maximum thermal performance, noise reduction and UV protection over the lower upfront cost of double glazing. Bowalker fits it across casement, sash, tilt-and-turn, bay and bow styles, taking around 1–2 hours per window — download our Price Guide for typical costs. Every installation is FENSA-registered and backed by a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee.
Learn More →Obscure windows allow natural light to filter through while distorting the view from either side to ensure privacy. They serve as a decorative feature, limiting visibility while still transmitting light, reducing transparency and distorting or blocking vision through the pane. We offer them in uPVC, aluminium and timber, with durable frames, airtight seals and secure glazing for improved insulation, energy efficiency and long-lasting, low-maintenance performance.
Learn More →Satin windows feature a velvety frosted finish that provides Level 5 privacy while letting natural light through. Ideal for bathrooms, front doors and partitions, they create a soft, diffused glow and can be toughened, cut to size and fitted into double-glazed units. Our satin windows use durable frames with airtight seals and secure glazing for energy efficiency, long-lasting performance and low maintenance.
Learn More →Leaded windows feature small panes of glass held together with lead cames, creating intricate patterns that enhance the character and elegance of a property. We install leaded windows in timber, aluminium and uPVC, using durable frames and secure glazing to improve insulation, energy efficiency and long-lasting performance. The best features include decorative detailing, a traditional or period aesthetic, enhanced security and low-maintenance construction that preserves your home's architectural charm.
Learn More →A stained glass window is a decorative glazing feature made from coloured or patterned glass pieces arranged into bespoke designs that add privacy, character and visual interest to a property. We install stained glass windows in a range of styles, including leaded, copper foil, painted or enamel, faceted and fused or kiln-formed designs, with options to suit both traditional and contemporary homes. Our stained glass windows combine durable framing, weather-resistant finishes and reinforced glazing to support long-term performance, while helping improve insulation, kerb appeal and interior character.
Learn More →Designed with reflective or solar-control glazing, mirror glass windows provide increased daytime privacy while helping reduce glare and control solar heat gain. Suitable for casement, picture, bay, arched, tilt and turn, vertical sliding and bifold configurations, they can be fitted within uPVC, timber or aluminium frames to suit different property styles. We install each system with energy-efficient sealed units, secure locking hardware and weather-resistant seals, delivering reliable everyday performance, improved indoor comfort and a clean, contemporary appearance.
Learn More →Bowalker installs secondary glazing systems designed to improve thermal insulation, reduce outside noise and create a more comfortable indoor environment without replacing the original windows. Our range includes fixed, lift-out, hinged, horizontal sliding, vertical sliding, magnetic, acoustic and Low-E secondary glazing to suit different property styles and glazing requirements. Each system is professionally measured and fitted using slimline panels, secure fixings, durable frames and energy-efficient glass, helping reduce heat loss while delivering reliable, long-lasting performance.
Learn More →We install astragal bars windows featuring decorative, raised and fitted strips, usually in PVC, wood, or metal, that mimic the look of traditional small-paned Georgian windows. Our windows divide the glass into multiple panes, providing a slightly more robust feel than thin, internal-only Georgian bars, while enhancing the aesthetics of your property. They are available in uPVC, aluminium and timber, with durable frames, airtight seals and secure glazing for improved insulation, energy efficiency and long-lasting, low-maintenance performance.
Learn More →Georgian bars windows feature decorative, narrow strips installed on top of the glass that divide a single pane into smaller, classic panes, echoing 18th-century design and making them look like traditional Georgian-style windows. We install them in timber, aluminium and uPVC, set inside the sealed unit to offer improved insulation, airtight seals and secure glazing for energy efficiency and long-lasting performance. They combine authentic period style with practical benefits such as improved security, energy efficiency and easy upkeep.
Learn More →Fixed Sash Windows
Fixed Window
A fixed window is a non-operable, fully sealed window designed to maximise natural light and provide clear, uninterrupted views. We install direct-set windows, in which the glass is glazed directly into the frame and sash-set designs, in which the glass sits within a fixed sash, both without hinges, handles, or ventilation. Key benefits include strong airtightness, reduced heat loss, lower energy costs, minimal maintenance and durable double glazing for long-term thermal performance.
Learn More →A tilt-and-turn window operates on a dual-hinge mechanism that opens along two axes, allowing the sash to tilt from the top for secure, draft-free ventilation or swing fully inward from the side for easy cleaning and maximum airflow. Our tilt-and-turn windows suit upper floors and high-rise buildings where outside access is limited. Key benefits include multi-point locking for security, tight seals that reduce draughts and heat loss and durable double glazing for dependable energy performance.
Learn More →A picture window is a fixed, non-operable window made from a single pane of plate or insulating glass with minimal framing, designed to frame wide, unobstructed views. Its sealed design improves energy efficiency, reduces heat loss and brings in natural light, often serving as a focal point in living or dining areas. We supply our picture windows with slim frames for modern homes, made in durable uPVC, aluminium, or timber and available in square, rectangular, or arched designs.
Learn More →We install and replace vertical sliding windows that combine traditional styling with modern energy efficiency, security and smooth operation. Available in uPVC, aluminium and timber-effect finishes, our range includes single-sash, double-sash and heritage-style designs to suit different property types. Whether replacing older vertical sliders or fitting new windows, our in-house team measures and installs each unit with durable multi-chambered profiles and advanced glazing, helping reduce heat loss while providing secure operation, reliable long-term performance and a finish that complements the character of the home.
Learn More →We install bifold windows with multiple panels that fold and stack in a concertina style to one or both sides, sliding smoothly along a track to create a wide opening. Our bifold windows are made from durable materials such as aluminium or uPVC, with ultra-slim frames, toughened glass, multi-point locking systems and child-safe gaskets to reduce the risk of finger trapping. Key features include increased natural light and ventilation, secure operation, strong durability and energy-efficient double glazing for long-term performance.

Planning & Conservation Rules in Haywards Heath
Much of Haywards Heath’s historic core, including the area around Muster Green, sits within the Haywards Heath Conservation Area designated by Mid Sussex District Council. Properties here can face restrictions on window style and finish, and flush casement windows — which sit level with the frame rather than protruding — are often the only style local planning officers will approve for period elevations. We confirm your property’s exact planning position at survey stage, before any order is placed.
Muster Green: Haywards Heath's Historic Heart
Haywards Heath grew up around Muster Green, the site of a Civil War battle and now the town’s oldest conservation area, ringed by grand Victorian and Edwardian houses in mature grounds. It’s exactly the kind of period property where our sash, heritage and flush window ranges are installed most often — combining historically accurate sightlines with modern double glazing, security and insulation.

Read moreBowalker replaced all of our windows and patio doors in November. They are very efficient and got the job done in the pouring rain but did it quick and professionally. We had a couple of teething issues with the doors after completion and they did not hesitate to come out and rectify the issue. Excellent customer service and a friendly team. Would highly recommend
Read moreWe had a total of 6 windows fitted at end of June 2025 (2 bathroom(frosted), 1 hallway,1 dining room and two big bay windows complete with 2 window boards). Took 5 days in total as bay windows were load bearing ,the window boards were not in warehouse so took extra time to arrive and fit , the silicone/mastic finish wasn’t great and they cut one end of a window board wrong , but after a telephone call a new team of fitters came out and rectified the mistakes of original fitters that we had noticed , a window pane had got scratched in delivery so they replaced that as well. This was a big job that entailed some mistakes but over time was rectified by bowalker windows by sending out another team of fitters to fix some minor mistakes of original fitters . We went on a recommendation from a work colleague who had used Bowalker windows in the past as were very good. Maybe just improve your fitters mastic silicone skills a bit more but is is an old house of 110 years and nothing is level in this house
