Bowalker replaced all of our windows and patio doors in November. They are very efficient and got the job done in the pouring rain but did it quick and professionally. We had a couple of teething issues with the doors after completion and they did not hesitate to come out and rectify the issue. Excellent customer service and a friendly team. Would highly recommend

We had a total of 6 windows fitted at end of June 2025 (2 bathroom(frosted), 1 hallway,1 dining room and two big bay windows complete with 2 window boards). Took 5 days in total as bay windows were load bearing ,the window boards were not in warehouse so took extra time to arrive and fit , the silicone/mastic finish wasn’t great and they cut one end of a window board wrong , but after a telephone call a new team of fitters came out and rectified the mistakes of original fitters that we had noticed , a window pane had got scratched in delivery so they replaced that as well. This was a big job that entailed some mistakes but over time was rectified by bowalker windows by sending out another team of fitters to fix some minor mistakes of original fitters . We went on a recommendation from a work colleague who had used Bowalker windows in the past as were very good. Maybe just improve your fitters mastic silicone skills a bit more but is is an old house of 110 years and nothing is level in this house

Frequently Asked Questions

Satin windows are windows made with acid-etched or frosted glass that creates a smooth, matte and translucent surface, allowing natural light to pass through while limiting clear visibility. They are commonly used in residential and commercial spaces where privacy is required, such as bathrooms, office partitions and high-privacy areas.

Satin window installation costs between £350 and £1,200 per window for supply and fitting, depending on the type of satin glass, window size and frame material. Costs increase when choosing premium satin glazing or specialised frame finishes such as aluminium or custom-coated uPVC. Additional factors like installation complexity, labour requirements and glazing specifications can also influence the overall price.

The types of satin glass available are standard acid-etched satin glass, low-iron satin glass, laminated satin glass, toughened satin glass, double-glazed satin glass and decorative patterned satin glass. These variations provide different levels of privacy, strength, clarity and thermal performance, allowing satin windows to meet both functional and design requirements across residential and commercial spaces.

Satin window installation takes 30 to 60 minutes per window, depending on the window type, size and fitting requirements. Larger or custom satin windows, such as tilt and turn or roof windows, may take more time for fitting and sealing. Site access, frame condition and glazing requirements can also affect installation time.

Bowalker Windows Limited offers a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee on all satin window installations, providing assurance of durability and long-term performance. This guarantee covers workmanship and installation standards, giving homeowners confidence that their satin windows are fitted professionally and meet FENSA compliance requirements.

No, you do not need to be present during the satin window installation as long as property access is arranged and your preferences are confirmed beforehand. Our fully in-house team of installers will complete the work professionally, ensuring secure handling, accurate fitting and full alignment with your specified satin window design and requirements.

Satin window replacement costs in the UK range from £700 to £1,800 per window for a full replacement, which covers removing and disposing of the existing window along with the new frame and glazing. If the existing frame remains in good condition and only the satin glass needs replacing, costs are usually lower, ranging from £250 to £650 per window. Pricing can vary depending on window size, glazing specification, frame material, property access and installation complexity.

Maintenance tips for satin windows include using gentle, non-abrasive cleaning methods to preserve the smooth, low-sheen surface and protective coatings of satin-etched glass and satin-finish frames. Avoid harsh chemicals that can damage the coating, and check seals and fittings to maintain performance. Proper care preserves both the appearance and durability of satin windows over time.
