Read moreBowalker replaced all of our windows and patio doors in November. They are very efficient and got the job done in the pouring rain but did it quick and professionally. We had a couple of teething issues with the doors after completion and they did not hesitate to come out and rectify the issue. Excellent customer service and a friendly team. Would highly recommend
Read moreWe had a total of 6 windows fitted at end of June 2025 (2 bathroom(frosted), 1 hallway,1 dining room and two big bay windows complete with 2 window boards). Took 5 days in total as bay windows were load bearing ,the window boards were not in warehouse so took extra time to arrive and fit , the silicone/mastic finish wasn’t great and they cut one end of a window board wrong , but after a telephone call a new team of fitters came out and rectified the mistakes of original fitters that we had noticed , a window pane had got scratched in delivery so they replaced that as well. This was a big job that entailed some mistakes but over time was rectified by bowalker windows by sending out another team of fitters to fix some minor mistakes of original fitters . We went on a recommendation from a work colleague who had used Bowalker windows in the past as were very good. Maybe just improve your fitters mastic silicone skills a bit more but is is an old house of 110 years and nothing is level in this house

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need planning permission to replace windows or doors in Seaford?
No, planning permission is not usually required for like-for-like replacement of windows or doors in Seaford, unless your property is a listed building, is in a conservation area with an Article 4 Direction, involves significant changes to the size or style, or is a flat, maisonette, or commercial building. In these cases, you must apply to Lewes District Council for consent before starting work. Building Regulations always apply to any replacement, and as a FENSA-registered windows and door specialist Seaford, Bowalker Windows Limited can self-certify compliance and provide the necessary certification. For unique properties or if you are unsure about your situation, we recommend consulting Lewes District Council or contacting a local specialist for tailored advice.
Once you’ve confirmed the permissions and regulations for your project, the next step is choosing window styles and materials that best suit your property and Seaford’s unique climate.
Which window styles suit my property?
Yes, the right window style for your property depends on both its architectural era and the demands of Seaford’s coastal environment. For period homes, sliding sash or bay windows maintain traditional lines and maximise natural light, while modern properties benefit from aluminium or casement windows with clean frames and large glass areas. Tilt and turn windows are a practical choice for compact spaces, offering safe ventilation and easy cleaning. Across all property types, selecting weather-resistant materials such as uPVC, composite, or marine-grade aluminium is important to withstand salty air and changing weather. Matching the window style and material to your property’s age and location helps Bowalker Windows Limited deliver windows and door specialist Seaford solutions that fit both appearance and performance needs.
Which door types are available for my home?
Several door types are available from Bowalker Windows Limited as your windows and door specialist Seaford, each offering a different combination of security, material, and glazing options. Composite doors provide a secure and durable entrance solution with a modern appearance and compatibility for double glazed panels. uPVC doors are valued for their efficient insulation, low maintenance, and weather resistance, making them a practical choice for many properties. Aluminium doors offer a sleek, modern look with high security features and are suitable for larger openings such as bifold or sliding doors. By selecting from these available options, you can match the right door type to your property’s style and performance needs.
Just as choosing the right door enhances your home’s entrance, selecting the appropriate rooflight can transform your living spaces with natural light and style.
What types of rooflights are available?
A wide range of rooflights is available from Bowalker Windows Limited as your windows and door specialist Seaford, each designed to suit different property styles and project needs. Flat glass rooflights offer a modern, flush finish ideal for extensions and kitchens, while roof lanterns provide a raised, pitched glass structure that brings height and architectural interest to flat-roof spaces. Pitched roof windows, often used in loft conversions or upper floors, are fitted into sloped roofs to deliver natural light and ventilation. Walk-on rooflights feature reinforced glass for safe foot traffic on terraces or balconies, allowing light into rooms below. Dome skylights, with their curved polycarbonate or acrylic design, are commonly chosen for flat roofs and utility areas where water runoff is important. Roof access windows combine daylight with practical hinged or sliding openings for safe access to roof terraces or maintenance areas. Each type offers distinct benefits, so consider which rooflight best matches your property’s requirements and the intended use of the space.
When should roofline products be replaced?
Yes, roofline products should be replaced when they show visible signs of damage, such as persistent leaks, rot, warping, or loss of structural integrity that affects their function. Common indicators include water staining on exterior walls, sagging or cracked fascias and soffits, and areas where the material has deteriorated or pulled away from the property. High quality uPVC roofline products offer improved weather resistance and are well suited to coastal conditions, but regular inspection is important to catch early signs of wear. If you are unsure about the condition of your roofline, Bowalker Windows Limited recommends consulting a windows and door specialist Seaford for a professional assessment.
Once your roofline products have been professionally assessed or replaced, it’s important to understand the guarantees that come with your new installation.
What guarantee comes with Bowalker installations?
Bowalker Windows Limited provides an insurance-backed guarantee on all windows, doors, and architectural glazing installations, with coverage structured across different tiers to match the product and fitting selected. As a FENSA registered installer (Reg: 33081), we meet all building regulation standards, and our guarantees are transferable to new homeowners for a fee. For supply-only purchases, the warranty is limited. If you have questions about which guarantee applies to your windows and door specialist Seaford installation, we are ready to provide full details for your specific project.
How do I maintain replacement windows?
Regular maintenance keeps replacement windows from Bowalker Windows Limited performing at a high quality and maintaining secure operation. Cleaning uPVC and double glazed windows with mild soapy water removes salt and debris, which is especially important for casement windows in coastal areas. Checking window seals for drafts or visible damage, and lubricating hinges and locks, helps preserve smooth movement and high security. By following these steps, you support the long-term durability and performance of your replacement windows installed by a windows and door specialist Seaford.
Just as windows benefit from attentive upkeep, doors in your home also require consistent care to withstand Seaford’s challenging coastal conditions.
How do I care for new doors?
Yes, caring for new doors requires regular cleaning, seal checks, and hardware lubrication, especially in Seaford’s coastal environment where salt air and dampness are common. For uPVC or aluminium doors, we recommend wiping frames with a soft cloth and mild soapy water two to three times a year, or more often if you live close to the seafront, while timber doors should be cleaned with gentle soapy water without saturating the wood. Glass panels benefit from a streak-free cleaner, and all door tracks should be vacuumed regularly to remove grit and debris, with a deeper clean a few times a year. Hinges and tracks need silicone spray to prevent rust, and locks work best with dry graphite powder to avoid attracting dirt. Annual inspection and prompt replacement of weather seals help maintain energy efficiency and keep moisture out. Following these steps with Bowalker Windows Limited as your windows and door specialist Seaford protects your doors from coastal wear and supports long-term performance.
Just as doors require attentive care to withstand Seaford’s challenging climate, rooflights also demand a consistent maintenance routine to ensure their longevity and effectiveness.
How do I maintain rooflights?
Rooflight maintenance for any windows and door specialist Seaford project requires regular cleaning and inspection, especially in coastal areas where salt and wind accelerate wear. We recommend cleaning the glass every 3 to 6 months, clearing drainage and flashing areas twice a year, inspecting weather seals and gaskets bi-annually, and lubricating moving parts on opening rooflights during each check. In Seaford’s coastal environment, these bi-annual checks are especially important to prevent corrosion and water ingress that can affect rooflight performance. For more complex maintenance or repairs, our team is available to assist, helping you keep your rooflights in optimal condition for longer durability and function.
What materials are available for windows and doors?
Windows and door specialist Seaford services offer four main material options for windows and doors: uPVC, aluminium, hardwood or timber, and composite. uPVC is valued for being energy-efficient and low maintenance, making it a practical choice for many properties. Aluminium frames provide a strong, slim profile that supports secure, modern designs, while hardwood or timber delivers a classic look suited to period homes but requires periodic treatment. Composite doors combine a timber core with a GRP or PVC skin, offering high security and minimal upkeep. Selecting the right material depends on your property’s needs, and consulting a windows and door specialist Seaford provider helps you make an informed choice.
Once you have chosen the ideal materials, understanding the installation process and expected timelines is the next important step.
How long does installation take?
Individual window installations by a windows and door specialist Seaford typically take 30 minutes to 1 hour each, while fitting an exterior door usually requires 2 to 6 hours. The total duration for your project depends on several factors, including the number of windows or doors, the condition of existing frames, the style and size of each unit, site access, and weather conditions. For an accurate installation schedule tailored to your property, a professional site survey is recommended, and Bowalker Windows Limited can provide a precise timeline after assessing your specific requirements in Seaford.
