Types of Tilt and Turn Windows We Install and Replace
Tilt and Turn uPVC Windows
Tilt and Turn uPVC Windows
Low-maintenance construction, good thermal performance and flexible styling make uPVC tilt and turn windows a practical choice for modern homes and renovation projects. Multi-chambered profiles can be combined with Low-E glass, argon-filled sealed units and suitable hardware specifications to support insulation and everyday operation. Bowalker installs and replaces tilt and turn uPVC windows with secure multipoint locking, energy-efficient glazing and a range of colours and woodgrain finishes to complement different property styles.
Learn More →Tilt and Turn Aluminium Windows
Tilt and Turn Aluminium Windows
Slim profiles, structural strength and long-term durability make aluminium tilt and turn windows suitable for contemporary homes, extensions and larger openings where clean sightlines and flexible operation are priorities. Thermally broken aluminium profiles help reduce heat transfer through the frame whilst maintaining the narrow sections associated with modern aluminium systems. We install and replace tilt and turn aluminium windows with energy-efficient glazing, secure multipoint locking and durable powder-coated finishes in a range of available colours.
Learn More →Tilt and Turn Flush Windows
Tilt and Turn Flush Windows
Sitting level with the surrounding frame for a clean exterior appearance, tilt and turn flush windows combine understated styling with practical dual-opening functionality. Their minimal profile suits contemporary properties and selected period properties and renovations where a smoother window finish is preferred. Bowalker installs and replaces tilt and turn flush windows with energy-efficient sealed units, secure locking hardware and carefully specified uPVC and aluminium frame systems chosen to suit the property's design requirements.
Learn More →Tilt and Turn Heritage Windows
Tilt and Turn Heritage Windows
Traditional proportions, decorative glazing details and period-inspired hardware allow tilt and turn heritage windows to combine modern operation with classic architectural character. Depending on the selected frame system, Georgian bars, astragal detailing and traditional moulding profiles can be specified to complement existing joinery and divided-light patterns. We install and replace tilt and turn heritage windows with sympathetic frame designs, secure multipoint locking and energy-efficient glazing selected to suit the property's appearance and requirements.
Learn More →Projecting bay configurations combined with inward-opening tilt and turn sashes provide flexible ventilation and improved internal access for cleaning across larger window arrangements. This makes them suitable for properties with limited external access to bay windows or where regular maintenance is difficult. Bowalker installs and replaces tilt and turn bay windows with carefully measured frames, secure locking hardware and energy-efficient sealed units selected around the bay structure and ventilation needs.
Learn More →Traditional proportions combined with modern tilt and turn operation make cottage-style tilt and turn windows suitable for rural properties, character homes and renovation projects where appearance and functionality need to work together. Woodgrain uPVC and engineered timber options can complement existing finishes whilst maintaining a traditional appearance. To suit each property's character and finish, Bowalker installs and replaces tilt and turn cottage windows with suitable glazing options, secure hardware and carefully selected frame finishes.
Learn More →Period-inspired profiles, sympathetic glazing details and carefully selected hardware allow tilt and turn historic windows to provide modern operation while respecting traditional architectural character. Slimline sealed units and appropriate decorative detailing can be considered where it suits the property's appearance and meets relevant conservation requirements. To balance ventilation, maintenance access, and a heritage-style appearance, Bowalker installs and replaces tilt and turn historic windows with carefully selected frames, glazing, and secure multipoint locking hardware.
Learn More →Slim grid-style frames and geometric glazing details give Crittall-style tilt and turn windows a distinctive industrial appearance while retaining the practical benefits of inward-opening functionality. Thermally broken aluminium profiles can provide narrow sightlines and defined glazing sections that recreate the steel-look style associated with Crittall-inspired designs. Bowalker installs and replaces tilt and turn Crittall-style windows with carefully aligned glazing bars, secure multipoint hardware and durable powder-coated finishes.
Learn More →Combining casement-style appearance with dual inward-opening functionality, tilt and turn casement windows provide flexible ventilation and easier internal cleaning access. The tilt position allows controlled airflow, whilst the full opening position provides greater ventilation and access to the internal glazing surface. With secure multipoint locking, compression weather-resistant seals and energy-efficient Low-E argon-filled sealed units, Bowalker installs and replaces tilt and turn casement windows with specifications selected to suit each property's ventilation and performance requirements.
Learn More →Double Glazed Tilt and Turn Windows
Double Glazed Tilt and Turn Windows
Improving thermal performance without compromising the flexible dual-opening functionality of the tilt and turn system, double-glazed units use two panes of glass separated by an insulating cavity. Low-E glass coatings, argon-filled sealed units and warm-edge spacer bars can be incorporated into suitable glazing systems to support insulation performance. Bowalker installs and replaces double-glazed tilt and turn windows with secure espagnolette locking hardware, energy-efficient sealed units and compression weather-resistant seals for reliable everyday operation.
Learn More →Where the frame and operating system allow, triple-glazed tilt and turn windows use three panes of glass and two insulating cavities to provide enhanced thermal and acoustic performance. The additional glazing weight requires compatible frames and appropriately rated operating mechanisms to maintain smooth tilt and turn movement over the long term. By carefully matching the glazing specification to a compatible frame and operating system, Bowalker installs and replaces triple-glazed tilt and turn windows with secure hardware and precision-engineered mechanisms for reliable long-term operation.
Learn More →Privacy glazing combined with tilt and turn functionality makes obscure glass tilt and turn windows suitable for bathrooms, overlooked rooms and ground-floor spaces where ventilation and reduced visibility are both required. Pilkington Texture Glass offers privacy levels from Level 1 (least obscuration) to Level 5 (greatest obscuration), so you can choose the right glazing for each room. We install and replace obscure glass tilt and turn windows with suitable privacy glazing, secure hardware and energy-efficient sealed units.
Learn More →The smooth translucent finish of satin glass diffuses natural light while reducing direct visibility through the glazing, making satin glass tilt and turn windows suitable for bathrooms, bedrooms and privacy-sensitive spaces. Unlike patterned obscure glass, satin glazing provides a more uniform appearance across the pane while maintaining everyday daylight diffusion. To suit each room's privacy and ventilation requirements, Bowalker installs and replaces satin glass tilt and turn windows with secure espagnolette locking hardware, suitable sealed units and carefully specified frame systems.
Learn More →Decorative lead patterns combined with dual inward-opening functionality allow leaded glass tilt and turn windows to introduce traditional decorative character alongside practical ventilation and convenient internal cleaning access in period homes and character properties. Lead patterns are configured around the proportions of the tilt and turn sash to maintain a balanced decorative appearance in both the open and closed positions. We install and replace leaded glass tilt and turn windows with carefully aligned lead layouts, secure espagnolette hardware and energy-efficient argon-filled sealed units.
Learn More →Coloured or decorative glazing combined with dual inward-opening functionality allows stained glass tilt and turn windows to introduce distinctive decorative character alongside practical ventilation in entrance areas, period properties and feature elevations where stained glass contributes to the architectural design. Decorative glass panels are configured to maintain visual continuity across the sash in both the tilt and turn positions, with colour and pattern alignment considered at the design and fabrication stage. Bowalker installs and replaces stained glass tilt and turn windows with carefully positioned decorative glazing, secure frames and reliable precision-engineered opening mechanisms.
Learn More →Reflective glazing combined with tilt and turn functionality can help manage glare, solar heat gain and daytime privacy in sun-facing or overlooked rooms, with the tilt position providing controlled background ventilation whilst maintaining the reflective glazing's solar control performance. The privacy effect depends on the balance between internal and external light levels and is strongest during daylight hours when external light exceeds interior lighting. For each installation, Bowalker selects reflective sealed units, secure espagnolette multipoint locking and precision-engineered operating mechanisms around the property's specific ventilation and solar-control requirements.

Read moreSimon and Brandon fitted our three windows in our garage > studio conversion and were great through the day. Arrived when they said they would, were very polite, respectful and pleasant people. Found answers to questions we didn’t realise about the installation and though we haven’t yet finished the project the windows are a very exciting and big step forward for us. Would recommend this company and this team without hesitation. Thank you!

Read moreBowalker replaced all of our windows and patio doors in November. They are very efficient and got the job done in the pouring rain but did it quick and professionally. We had a couple of teething issues with the doors after completion and they did not hesitate to come out and rectify the issue. Excellent customer service and a friendly team. Would highly recommend
Read moreWe had a total of 6 windows fitted at end of June 2025 (2 bathroom(frosted), 1 hallway,1 dining room and two big bay windows complete with 2 window boards). Took 5 days in total as bay windows were load bearing ,the window boards were not in warehouse so took extra time to arrive and fit , the silicone/mastic finish wasn’t great and they cut one end of a window board wrong , but after a telephone call a new team of fitters came out and rectified the mistakes of original fitters that we had noticed , a window pane had got scratched in delivery so they replaced that as well. This was a big job that entailed some mistakes but over time was rectified by bowalker windows by sending out another team of fitters to fix some minor mistakes of original fitters . We went on a recommendation from a work colleague who had used Bowalker windows in the past as were very good. Maybe just improve your fitters mastic silicone skills a bit more but is is an old house of 110 years and nothing is level in this house

Frequently Asked Questions
What Are Tilt and Turn Windows?
Tilt and turn windows are dual-function window systems that tilt inward about 15 degrees for secure ventilation or turn fully inward for easy access and cleaning. A single handle controls both functions: turning it 90 degrees opens the window inward, whilst 180 degrees activates the tilt position. Built with multipoint locking systems, these windows provide strong security, controlled airflow and practical everyday use for modern homes.
How Do You Clean Tilt and Turn Windows?
Clean tilt and turn windows with warm water, mild detergent and a soft microfibre cloth to remove dirt from the glass, frames and seals. Use the inward-opening function to safely access both sides of the glazing and wipe the hinges, locking points and drainage channels to maintain smooth operation. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals and rough pads that could damage seals, coatings or frame finishes.
How Do You Choose the Right Tilt and Turn Windows for Your Home?
Choose the right tilt and turn windows by considering your property’s style, frame material, glazing requirements, ventilation needs and maintenance preferences. uPVC suits homeowners seeking low-maintenance performance, aluminium provides slim modern profiles and timber can complement traditional properties. During your consultation, we assess your property and recommend tilt and turn windows that balance security, comfort, energy efficiency and everyday usability.
What Tilt and Turn Window Design Ideas Should You Consider for Your Home?
Consider tilt and turn window design ideas such as slim aluminium frames for contemporary homes, heritage-style profiles for period properties, flush designs for clean external lines and decorative glazing options for character homes. Larger tilt and turn windows can maximise natural light in living spaces, whilst obscure or satin glass options can provide privacy in bathrooms and overlooked rooms. Matching frame finishes and glazing styles across the property creates a consistent appearance.
What Guarantee Do You Provide on Tilt and Turn Window Installation?
Bowalker provides a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee on qualifying tilt and turn window installation and replacement work. Our FENSA registration (Reg. 33081) supports compliance with relevant Building Regulations for applicable replacement installations, providing additional reassurance around installation standards and workmanship.
