Arrived when they said they would, were very polite, respectful and pleasant people. Found answers to questions we didn’t realise about the installation and though we haven’t yet finished the project the windows are a very exciting and big step forward for us. Read moreBowalker replaced all of our windows and patio doors in November. They are very efficient and got the job done in the pouring rain but did it quick and professionally. We had a couple of teething issues with the doors after completion and they did not hesitate to come out and rectify the issue. Excellent customer service and a friendly team. Would highly recommend
Read moreWe had a total of 6 windows fitted at end of June 2025 (2 bathroom(frosted), 1 hallway,1 dining room and two big bay windows complete with 2 window boards). Took 5 days in total as bay windows were load bearing ,the window boards were not in warehouse so took extra time to arrive and fit , the silicone/mastic finish wasn’t great and they cut one end of a window board wrong , but after a telephone call a new team of fitters came out and rectified the mistakes of original fitters that we had noticed , a window pane had got scratched in delivery so they replaced that as well. This was a big job that entailed some mistakes but over time was rectified by bowalker windows by sending out another team of fitters to fix some minor mistakes of original fitters . We went on a recommendation from a work colleague who had used Bowalker windows in the past as were very good. Maybe just improve your fitters mastic silicone skills a bit more but is is an old house of 110 years and nothing is level in this house

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need planning permission to replace windows or doors?
No, planning permission is generally not required for like-for-like window and door replacements on standard residential properties, but you will need permission if the property is listed, is in a conservation area with changes to materials or style, or is subject to an Article 4 Direction or substantial alterations. For listed buildings, both Listed Building Consent and planning approval are always necessary, and in conservation areas or where Article 4 applies, changing from timber to upvc windows or altering the original design may trigger the need for approval. Creating new openings or significantly changing the size or style of a window or door also requires permission. All replacement windows and doors must comply with building regulations, and as a FENSA-registered installer (Fensa Reg: 33081), Bowalker Windows Limited can self-certify compliance for your Billingshurst property. If your situation is unique or you are unsure, check with your local planning authority before starting your windows and door specialist Billingshurst project.
When considering replacement options, it’s important to understand the different types of windows available and their unique benefits.
What window styles are available for my property?
- uPVC windows: Efficient insulation, low maintenance, and cost-effective
- Aluminium windows: Slim frame and modern look for contemporary designs
- Timber windows: Natural, traditional appearance for period properties
- Specialty and roof windows: Bay, bow, and tilt-and-turn designs for unique spaces
Bowalker Windows Limited gives tailored advice to match each property’s style and the homeowner’s requirements, ensuring the right fit for every project.
Their extensive range of door options caters to diverse tastes and functional needs, including:
What door types can I choose from?
- Composite doors: Strong, secure, and low-maintenance with traditional or modern designs
- uPVC doors: Cost-effective, durable, and weather-resistant
- Aluminium doors: Slim, modern look with larger glass areas
- Bi-fold and patio doors: Wide openings for indoor/outdoor living, available in uPVC and aluminium
- French and single doors: Traditional swing-out option for garden or patio access
- Timber or stable doors: Natural character for period or rustic homes
Each door type from Bowalker Windows Limited allows you to match your choice to your property’s requirements and personal preferences.
What rooflight options do you offer?
Yes, we offer a selection of rooflight options as part of our windows and door specialist Billingshurst service, each designed to suit different property needs and preferences. You’ll find fixed rooflights for bringing natural light into darker spaces, opening rooflights that allow for both light and ventilation, roof lanterns that create a feature in living areas or extensions, and walk-on-glass units suitable for terraces or flat roofs. Our team provides guidance on choosing the right rooflight for your property, helping you match the style and function to your specific requirements.
When should roofline products be replaced?
Yes, roofline products should be replaced when they show clear signs of damage, rot, persistent leaks, or visible wear that compromises the protection of your property. Common indicators include cracked or sagging fascias, peeling paint, water ingress around the eaves, or evidence of pest infestation in the roof area. Addressing these issues promptly with Bowalker Windows Limited prevents further structural problems and helps maintain the value and weather resistance of your home, supporting the long-term performance of any windows and door specialist Billingshurst installation.
What guarantee do you provide on installations?
Yes, we provide a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee on every windows and door specialist Billingshurst installation, covering uPVC frames against warping, splitting, cracking, and discoloration, sealed glass units for up to 5 years against misting or condensation, composite doors with a 10-year structural and product guarantee, and hardware with coverage ranging from 1 to 10 years depending on the supplier. This guarantee is insurance-backed for added protection and is supported by our FENSA registration (Fensa Reg: 33081) and membership in the Plastic Window Federation. Exclusions apply for accidental damage, normal wear and tear, and lack of maintenance, so you can rely on Bowalker Windows Limited for long-term assurance on your Billingshurst installation.
How do I maintain my new windows?
Yes, regular maintenance is important for keeping new windows from Bowalker Windows Limited performing as intended. Clean the frames, glass, and tracks each month using a soft cloth and mild detergent, making sure to remove grit from corners and drainage channels. Every six months, lubricate moving parts such as hinges and locks with acid-free oil or silicone spray, and check handles and hinges for loose screws, tightening them as needed. Inspect seals and weatherstripping twice a year for cracks or gaps, taking care not to pull or damage the rubber gaskets. Keep sliding and bifold tracks clear of debris by vacuuming or wiping them down regularly. Following these steps helps maintain the long-term performance of your windows and supports the validity of any warranty coverage provided by your windows and door specialist Billingshurst.
How do I care for my new doors?
Yes, caring for new doors from a windows and door specialist Billingshurst involves regular cleaning with non-abrasive products, checking and lubricating hinges and locks, and inspecting weather seals for any signs of wear. Wiping down the door surface with a soft cloth and mild detergent helps maintain the finish on uPVC and composite doors, while periodic lubrication of moving parts keeps the hardware operating smoothly. Inspecting and replacing worn weather seals supports long-term durability and keeps the door performing as intended; for specific product advice, Bowalker Windows Limited can provide guidance tailored to your installation.
Just as doors benefit from routine care, rooflights also require regular maintenance to ensure their longevity and optimal performance.
How should I maintain rooflights?
Yes, rooflights installed by a windows and door specialist in Billingshurst should be maintained through a regular routine of cleaning the glass and frames, clearing any debris from drainage channels, and inspecting seals for signs of leaks or wear. Cleaning the glass and frames removes dirt and prevents staining, while checking and clearing drainage channels helps avoid water build-up that could lead to leaks or damage. Inspecting the seals ensures that the rooflight remains weather resistant and maintains its performance over time. Consistent attention to these steps supports the durability and function of high quality rooflights, and if you have specific concerns, Bowalker Windows Limited can provide tailored advice for your property.
What materials are available for windows and doors?
Yes, our windows and door specialist Billingshurst service from Bowalker Windows Limited offers a selection of materials tailored to different property needs, including uPVC, composite, and timber for doors, as well as timber, oak, and aluminium for orangeries, and glazing sheets for windows. uPVC doors are popular for their efficient insulation and low maintenance, while composite doors combine several materials for a safe and warm entrance with a traditional or modern appearance. Timber doors and orangeries use natural wood for a beautiful, original look and strong thermal performance, with oak providing a traditional, natural finish and aluminium frames delivering a slim, modern style with high durability. Glazing sheets are used in windows to maximise light and provide a clear, efficient barrier against the elements. For guidance on selecting the right material for your property, our windows and door specialist Billingshurst team can advise on the best fit for your design, insulation, and maintenance preferences.
Once you have chosen the ideal materials for your windows and doors, the next step is understanding how the installation process unfolds.
How long does installation typically take?
Installation by a windows and door specialist Billingshurst follows a clear sequence: site preparation, removal of old windows or doors, fitting the new units, and completing final checks and adjustments. Most projects are completed within a few days, depending on the number of windows and doors being replaced. For an accurate estimate tailored to your property and the number of units involved, contact Bowalker Windows Limited to discuss your installation requirements directly.
