Arrived when they said they would, were very polite, respectful and pleasant people. Found answers to questions we didn’t realise about the installation and though we haven’t yet finished the project the windows are a very exciting and big step forward for us. Would recommend this company and this team without hesitation. Thank you!

Read moreBowalker replaced all of our windows and patio doors in November. They are very efficient and got the job done in the pouring rain but did it quick and professionally. We had a couple of teething issues with the doors after completion and they did not hesitate to come out and rectify the issue. Excellent customer service and a friendly team. Would highly recommend
Read moreWe had a total of 6 windows fitted at end of June 2025 (2 bathroom(frosted), 1 hallway,1 dining room and two big bay windows complete with 2 window boards). Took 5 days in total as bay windows were load bearing ,the window boards were not in warehouse so took extra time to arrive and fit , the silicone/mastic finish wasn’t great and they cut one end of a window board wrong , but after a telephone call a new team of fitters came out and rectified the mistakes of original fitters that we had noticed , a window pane had got scratched in delivery so they replaced that as well. This was a big job that entailed some mistakes but over time was rectified by bowalker windows by sending out another team of fitters to fix some minor mistakes of original fitters . We went on a recommendation from a work colleague who had used Bowalker windows in the past as were very good. Maybe just improve your fitters mastic silicone skills a bit more but is is an old house of 110 years and nothing is level in this house

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need Planning Permission to Replace Windows or Doors in Lindfield?
Windows and door specialist Lindfield projects generally do not require planning permission for standard replacements, but properties within conservation areas, those subject to Article 4 Directions, or listed buildings will often need formal consent before any changes are made. For homes in Lindfield’s conservation area, planning controls may restrict the use of certain materials or designs, and listed buildings always require Listed Building Consent for any window or door replacement. High quality, secure, and visually suitable options such as uPVC windows or casement windows are typically expected to match the character of the property and surrounding area. Always check with the local authority for your specific address before starting any replacement work, as requirements can vary depending on the building’s status and location.
Understanding these local requirements is especially important because conservation area status and Article 4 Directions significantly tighten the rules around what changes are allowed.
Are There Conservation Area or Article 4 Restrictions for Replacement Windows and Doors in Lindfield?
Lindfield’s Conservation Area and Article 4 Directions remove standard permitted development rights, so most exterior window and door replacements require a full planning application and, for listed buildings, additional Listed Building Consent. For any property within these protected zones, Bowalker Windows Limited advises that replacement windows and doors must match the original proportions, use materials such as timber or historically accurate substitutes, and replicate traditional profiles to meet council expectations. Before starting a project, check your address with Mid Sussex District Council to confirm if restrictions apply, and consult a windows and door specialist Lindfield provider experienced in conservation compliance for tailored advice.
Which Window Styles Are Best Suited to Homes in Lindfield?
Lindfield’s mix of traditional cottages, Victorian and Edwardian properties, and suburban homes calls for window styles that respect each building’s character while meeting modern standards. Flush casement windows are a strong match for period cottages and conservation area homes, offering a clean, timber-like appearance that fits local heritage. Vertical sliding sash windows suit Victorian and traditional village properties, preserving original proportions and historic detail. For suburban houses, standard casement windows provide a practical, outward-opening design that works well with mid-to-late 20th-century layouts. Across all property types, woodgrain uPVC or engineered timber frames in classic colours such as Chartwell Green, cream, or subtle greys complement Lindfield’s brickwork and rendered finishes. Bowalker Windows Limited brings direct experience fitting these styles for Lindfield homeowners.

Which Door Types Are Best Suited to Homes in Lindfield?
Lindfield’s mix of historic cottages, period townhouses, and modern extensions means the right door type depends on your property’s style and requirements. Composite front doors are a strong choice for Victorian, Edwardian, and mid-century homes, offering a traditional appearance with high security and thermal efficiency. Bespoke hardwood or timber doors suit listed or medieval properties, preserving authentic character and meeting conservation needs with custom finishes. Aluminium heritage and French doors work well for rear extensions or contemporary updates, providing slim sightlines and modern weather resistance. For cottages and period-style homes, uPVC or timber-alternative flush doors deliver a neat, low-maintenance fit that blends with traditional facades. Bowalker Windows Limited helps you match each door to your home’s architecture and function.
Just as the right door enhances your home’s style and function, thoughtfully chosen roof glazing can transform both period and modern properties in Lindfield.
Which Rooflight Options Work for Lindfield Homes and Extensions?
Bowalker Windows Limited offers a range of roof glazing solutions for both period and modern properties in Lindfield. Fixed rooflights provide a clean, unobtrusive look for contemporary extensions, while opening rooflights add ventilation and are often chosen for kitchens or lofts. Roof lanterns bring extra height and natural light to larger living spaces, and walk-on glass options are available for flat roofs or terraces. Material choices such as aluminium and uPVC allow for a match with existing windows and doors, and design details like glazing bars or slim frames can help meet local conservation guidelines. For the best fit with Lindfield’s planning rules and your property’s character, we recommend consulting our team for tailored advice.
When Should Roofline Products Be Replaced on a Lindfield Home?
Timely replacement of roofline products by a windows and door specialist Lindfield protects your property from water ingress, structural damage, and visible deterioration. Signs that indicate replacement is needed include persistent leaks around the eaves, visible rot or warping in fascias and soffits, sagging guttering, or the need for frequent repairs that no longer resolve the underlying issue. Upgrading to modern materials such as uPVC or aluminium, fitted by Bowalker Windows Limited’s in-house installers, provides long-term weather resistance, reduces ongoing maintenance, and restores the appearance and value of your home.
What Guarantee Applies to Bowalker Installations in Lindfield?
Every Bowalker Windows Limited installation in Lindfield comes with a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee. This guarantee covers both windows and doors, ensuring your investment is protected against defects in materials or workmanship. Our guarantee is supported by FENSA registration (Reg: 33081) and Plastic Window Federation membership, so you benefit from recognised industry standards and added peace of mind. For Lindfield homeowners, this means you can trust our work and enjoy long-term value from your new windows and doors.
To make the most of your investment, it’s important to care for your new windows and doors properly.

How Should You Maintain Rooflights in Lindfield?
Rooflights installed by Bowalker Windows Limited as part of our windows and door specialist Lindfield service benefit from routine maintenance focused on four main areas:
- Glass and Frame Cleaning: Use suitable cleaning products to remove dirt and debris from the glass and frame, maintaining clear views and appearance.
- Seal and Flashing Inspection: Check seals and flashing for signs of wear or water ingress to prevent leaks and maintain weatherproofing.
- Condensation and Mould Checks: Inspect the area around the rooflight for condensation or mould, addressing any issues promptly to protect your home.
- Opening Mechanism Operation: Test the opening mechanisms regularly to ensure smooth, unobstructed movement and reliable ventilation.
Regular attention to these points helps maintain the performance and appearance of your rooflights in Lindfield homes.
Can an Existing Rooflight Be Replaced Without Changing the Roof Opening?
In most cases, Bowalker Windows Limited can replace an existing rooflight in Lindfield without altering the roof opening, provided the new rooflight matches the current dimensions and specifications. Our process includes measuring the existing opening, selecting a compatible rooflight, and ensuring the installation meets building regulations and any conservation area requirements. If you wish to change the size or type of rooflight, structural adjustments or additional permissions may be required. We recommend a specialist assessment to confirm compatibility and compliance before proceeding with your rooflight replacement.
To ensure a seamless experience, it’s helpful to be well-prepared for your consultation with our windows and door specialists in Lindfield.
