Found answers to questions we didn’t realise about the installation and though we haven’t yet finished the project the windows are a very exciting and big step forward for us. Read moreBowalker replaced all of our windows and patio doors in November. They are very efficient and got the job done in the pouring rain but did it quick and professionally. We had a couple of teething issues with the doors after completion and they did not hesitate to come out and rectify the issue. Excellent customer service and a friendly team. Would highly recommend
Read moreWe had a total of 6 windows fitted at end of June 2025 (2 bathroom(frosted), 1 hallway,1 dining room and two big bay windows complete with 2 window boards). Took 5 days in total as bay windows were load bearing ,the window boards were not in warehouse so took extra time to arrive and fit , the silicone/mastic finish wasn’t great and they cut one end of a window board wrong , but after a telephone call a new team of fitters came out and rectified the mistakes of original fitters that we had noticed , a window pane had got scratched in delivery so they replaced that as well. This was a big job that entailed some mistakes but over time was rectified by bowalker windows by sending out another team of fitters to fix some minor mistakes of original fitters . We went on a recommendation from a work colleague who had used Bowalker windows in the past as were very good. Maybe just improve your fitters mastic silicone skills a bit more but is is an old house of 110 years and nothing is level in this house

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need Planning Permission to Replace Windows or Doors in Reigate?
No, planning permission is not usually required for window or door replacement in Reigate if the property is not listed, not in a conservation area, and the new units are similar in appearance to the originals. Exceptions apply for listed buildings, homes within conservation areas, or properties affected by Article 4 Directions, where planning consent may be necessary before any changes are made. Regardless of planning permission, all replacement windows and doors must comply with Building Regulations and be installed by a certified provider such as Bowalker Windows Limited (Fensa Reg: 33081, Plastic Window Federation member). For properties with unique restrictions or historic status, we recommend checking with Reigate and Banstead Borough Council or consulting a windows and door specialist Reigate before starting your project.
This is particularly important because conservation area and Article 4 restrictions can significantly impact what types of windows and doors are permitted for replacement.
Are There Conservation Area or Article 4 Restrictions for Replacement Windows and Doors in Reigate?
Yes, conservation area and Article 4 restrictions do apply to many properties in Reigate, especially those located within designated conservation zones or listed as historic buildings. These restrictions typically control the materials, style, and visible changes allowed for replacement windows and doors, often requiring like-for-like replacements or formal approval from Reigate and Banstead Borough Council. For example, uPVC windows and modern styles may be limited or not permitted in certain areas, with requirements favouring traditional timber or heritage designs that match the original appearance. Before starting any window or door replacement project, Bowalker Windows Limited recommends that homeowners consult the local planning authority to confirm the specific rules for their property, as non-compliance can result in enforcement action or the need to reverse unauthorised changes.
Which Window Styles Are Best Suited to Homes in Reigate?
Reigate’s mix of period and modern properties means the most suitable window styles from Bowalker Windows Limited as your windows and door specialist Reigate include vertical sliding sash windows for Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian homes or conservation areas, flush casement windows for a traditional look and high energy efficiency in period or cottage properties, standard and French casement windows for versatile use and strong ventilation in both older and newer homes, slimline aluminium windows for contemporary designs needing thin frames and weather resistance, and bay or bow windows to increase light and space in Victorian or Edwardian facades. Each style is matched to specific property types and offers benefits such as replicating heritage timber, providing double or triple glazing, or maximising glass area for modern aesthetics. To make the right choice, consider your property’s age and style, and for tailored advice or to view the available range, visit our Bowalker Windows Limited service page.
Which Door Types Are Best Suited to Homes in Reigate?
Yes, certain door types are especially well suited to homes in Reigate. Composite front doors, aluminium bifold and sliding doors, timber or heritage flush doors, and French doors each match specific property styles and performance needs. Composite front doors work for main entrances by combining a traditional woodgrain look with a durable, high-security core and a wide choice of colours for personalisation. Aluminium bifold and sliding doors are ideal for rear extensions or garden-facing rooms, offering slim frames and smooth transitions that maximise natural light and connect indoor and outdoor spaces. Timber and heritage flush doors fit period or conservation properties, using solid hardwood or engineered wood with multi-point locking to maintain original character while meeting modern standards. French doors remain a suitable option for smaller openings or traditional facades, providing a classic appearance and practical access. With Bowalker Windows Limited as your windows and door specialist Reigate provider, you can select a door type that complements your home’s architecture and delivers the right balance of style, security, and energy efficiency.
Which Rooflight Types Are Suitable for Homes and Extensions in Reigate?
Yes, several rooflight types are suitable for homes and extensions in Reigate, with the right choice depending on your property’s style and the function you need. Fixed rooflights are often used in flat roofs to provide maximum natural light without opening, making them ideal for spaces where ventilation is not a priority. Opening rooflights allow for both light and ventilation, which is important in kitchens, bathrooms, or any area where airflow is needed. Roof lanterns suit period properties or statement extensions, offering a traditional look with a large glazed area that creates a focal point and brings in excellent daylight. Walk-on-glass rooflights are designed for terraces or flat roofs where foot traffic is expected, combining structural strength with a modern appearance. As a windows and door specialist Reigate provider, Bowalker Windows Limited recommends matching the rooflight type to your extension’s design, use, and ventilation requirements for the best result.
When Should Roofline Products Be Replaced on a Reigate Home?
Yes, roofline products on a Reigate home should be replaced when there are clear signs of damage, rot, persistent leaks, or visible deterioration such as cracked or warped fascias and soffits, peeling paint, water ingress, or evidence of pest infestation. These issues often appear as sagging sections, mould growth, or staining around the roofline. Arranging an inspection with a windows and door specialist Reigate provider like Bowalker Windows Limited helps protect your home and maintains its appearance.
What Guarantee Applies to Bowalker Installations in Reigate?
Yes, every windows and door specialist Reigate installation by Bowalker Windows Limited comes with a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee that covers both windows and doors, giving homeowners long-term protection on every product we fit. This guarantee applies to all installations and is supported by our FENSA registration (Reg: 33081) and membership in the Plastic Window Federation, which demonstrates our commitment to recognised industry standards. For full details on what our guarantee includes and how it applies to your project, we recommend asking during your consultation so you have complete clarity before your installation begins.
To help you make the most of your guaranteed products, it’s important to follow proper care guidelines after installation.

To keep your replacement windows in top condition, regular maintenance is essential. As your windows and door specialist Reigate, we recommend the following steps:
- Clean glass and frames with mild soapy water every few months
- Check and clear drainage channels to prevent blockages

Just as doors benefit from regular care, rooflights also require consistent maintenance to function optimally.
How Should You Maintain Rooflights in Reigate?
Proper maintenance of rooflights in Reigate helps ensure long-term performance and clarity. We recommend the following routine:
- Clean glass with mild soapy water and a soft cloth
- Wipe down frames and weather seals to remove dirt and moss
- Clear debris from surrounding gutters or flat roof areas
- Lubricate moving parts on operable rooflights
- Inspect for cracked seals, misted panes, or visible damage
- Contact a specialist for repairs, misting, or hard-to-access rooflights
Can an Existing Rooflight Be Replaced Without Changing the Roof Opening?
Yes, an existing rooflight can usually be replaced without altering the roof opening if the new unit matches the current size and shape. The process typically involves:
- Direct replacement with matching dimensions
- Modification required for different styles or larger units
- Professional assessment to confirm compatibility
- Specialist consultation recommended before ordering
Once you’ve determined the need for expert input, it’s important to prepare your home for the upcoming consultation.
How Should You Prepare for Your Reigate Windows and Door Specialist's Visit?
Preparing for a consultation with Bowalker Windows Limited involves four practical steps that help us deliver a smooth assessment and accurate installation plan. Clear access to all windows and doors by moving furniture or obstacles, remove any fragile items from the work areas, make a list of questions or concerns about your property’s requirements, and ensure someone is available to discuss preferences or specific needs during the visit.
