Arrived when they said they would, were very polite, respectful and pleasant people. Found answers to questions we didn’t realise about the installation and though we haven’t yet finished the project the windows are a very exciting and big step forward for us. Would recommend this company and this team without hesitation. Thank you!

Read moreBowalker replaced all of our windows and patio doors in November. They are very efficient and got the job done in the pouring rain but did it quick and professionally. We had a couple of teething issues with the doors after completion and they did not hesitate to come out and rectify the issue. Excellent customer service and a friendly team. Would highly recommend
Read moreWe had a total of 6 windows fitted at end of June 2025 (2 bathroom(frosted), 1 hallway,1 dining room and two big bay windows complete with 2 window boards). Took 5 days in total as bay windows were load bearing ,the window boards were not in warehouse so took extra time to arrive and fit , the silicone/mastic finish wasn’t great and they cut one end of a window board wrong , but after a telephone call a new team of fitters came out and rectified the mistakes of original fitters that we had noticed , a window pane had got scratched in delivery so they replaced that as well. This was a big job that entailed some mistakes but over time was rectified by bowalker windows by sending out another team of fitters to fix some minor mistakes of original fitters . We went on a recommendation from a work colleague who had used Bowalker windows in the past as were very good. Maybe just improve your fitters mastic silicone skills a bit more but is is an old house of 110 years and nothing is level in this house

Frequently Asked Questions
Are There Conservation Area or Article 4 Restrictions for Replacement Windows and Doors in Uckfield?
Yes, replacement windows and doors in Uckfield are subject to specific restrictions if the property falls within the designated Conservation Area established by Wealden District Council in March 2017, is covered by an Article 4 Direction, or is a Listed Building. Planning permission or Listed Building Consent is typically required in these cases, especially for changes to the external appearance or when using materials that differ from the original, such as uPVC, which is generally not permitted in favour of traditional timber designs. For property-specific guidance on compliance and permitted materials, consult the Wealden District Council Heritage and Conservation Areas portal or contact their planning team before proceeding with any window or door replacement through a windows and door specialist Uckfield.
Which Window Styles Are Best Suited to Homes in Uckfield?
Uckfield’s mix of period homes, cottages, and modern builds means the right window style depends on your property’s age and character. Traditional flush casement windows are suited to older or heritage properties, offering a clean, timber-look profile that fits seamlessly with classic architecture. Standard casement windows suit modern and mid-century homes, providing efficient ventilation, low maintenance, and strong thermal performance. Vertical sliding sash windows are for Victorian or Georgian houses, maintaining the original aesthetic while now available in secure, efficient uPVC or timber. For contemporary extensions or new-builds, aluminium casement or slim-line windows deliver a sleek, modern look with maximum glass area. To discuss which window style matches your Uckfield home, you can get tailored advice from Bowalker Windows Limited at https://www.bowalker.co.uk/.
Which Door Types Are Best Suited to Homes in Uckfield?
Yes, the best door type for a Uckfield home depends on whether security, budget, or property style is your main priority. Composite doors are ideal for main entrances, combining a solid core, wood-effect skin, multi-point locking, and a lifespan of up to 35 years for high security and durability. uPVC doors offer a budget-friendly, low-maintenance solution with standard multi-point locks and a 20–25-year lifespan, making them suitable for side or back doors. Aluminium bi-fold or sliding doors use slim frames and large glass panels to create a modern look and maximise light, which is perfect for kitchen-diners, rear patios, or extensions. For period homes or properties in conservation areas, timber or bespoke joinery doors preserve traditional character with hand-crafted wooden construction. Choosing the right door type with Bowalker Windows Limited as your windows and door specialist Uckfield supports security, style, and long-term value for your property.
Just as the right door enhances your home’s security and style, selecting an appropriate rooflight can transform your living spaces with natural light and architectural interest.
Which Rooflight Types Are Suitable for Homes and Extensions in Uckfield?
Selecting the right rooflight type for homes and extensions in Uckfield depends on the property’s style and the amount of natural light you want to achieve. Fixed rooflights are a popular choice for flat or pitched roofs where extra daylight is needed without ventilation, making them ideal for kitchens and living spaces. Opening rooflights suit areas that benefit from both light and fresh air, such as bathrooms or loft conversions, as they offer manual or electronic operation for ventilation. Roof lanterns work best on flat roof extensions, adding height and a focal point while flooding larger rooms with light. Walk-on glass rooflights are designed for terraces or balconies above living spaces, providing a durable surface that lets light into rooms below without sacrificing usable outdoor space. Choosing the right rooflight with Bowalker Windows Limited as your windows and door specialist Uckfield means you improve natural light, create a more open feel, and add value to your property.
When Should Roofline Products Be Replaced on an Uckfield Home?
Yes, roofline products on an Uckfield home should be replaced when you notice visible rot or cracking in fascias and soffits, persistent leaks or damp patches near the roof edge, sagging gutters or fascias that no longer sit flush, or signs of pest infestations such as nesting or gnawed materials. Rot and cracking allow water to penetrate and damage the structure, leaks or damp can lead to mould and internal decay, sagging components risk detachment and water overflow, and pest activity often signals hidden entry points or weakened materials. Timely replacement by a windows and door specialist Uckfield protects your property from escalating repair costs and structural issues, so if any of these signs appear, consult a local expert for assessment and advice.
What Guarantee Applies to Bowalker Installations in Uckfield?
Yes, all windows and door specialist Uckfield installations by Bowalker Windows Limited include a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee covering both workmanship and product performance. This guarantee applies to every window and door installation, giving homeowners long-term assurance that any issues related to the installation or the products themselves will be addressed directly by us. The 10-year insurance-backed guarantee is a standard part of our service and reflects our commitment to standing with our customers throughout the life of their new windows and doors.
How Should You Maintain Replacement Windows in Uckfield?
Yes, regular maintenance of replacement windows is necessary for long-term performance and durability, especially with the weather conditions in Uckfield. We recommend cleaning frames and glass with warm soapy water and a non-abrasive cloth to remove dirt and pollen, inspecting and resealing gaskets and seals annually to prevent drafts or leaks, lubricating hardware such as cranks, locks, handles, and hinges once or twice a year to avoid sticking or rust, and clearing tracks and drainage holes on sliding or patio doors to stop water from pooling. Checking for misted glass between double-glazed panes helps identify broken seals early, which can affect thermal efficiency. Addressing these tasks keeps your windows functioning as intended, and if you notice persistent issues, Bowalker Windows Limited as your windows and door specialist Uckfield is available to help resolve them.
Just as with windows, maintaining your doors with consistent care will help ensure their longevity and reliable performance in your home.
How Should You Maintain New Doors in Uckfield?
We recommend regular care for your new doors to keep them operating smoothly and looking their best. Clean surfaces with mild soapy water and a soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals that could damage uPVC, composite, or painted timber finishes. Lubricate hinges, handles, and locks every 6 to 12 months using a light oil or silicone spray, and use graphite powder for key cylinders to prevent sticking. Inspect rubber seals and weatherstripping annually for cracks or gaps, washing them gently to maintain a proper seal against drafts. Clear debris from tracks and thresholds every 3 to 6 months so rollers and doors move freely without jamming. If a door begins to stick or scrape, adjust the hinges or contact a local specialist before the mechanism is damaged. For persistent or complex issues, Bowalker Windows Limited can connect you with a local expert to provide targeted support and keep your new doors performing as intended.
Just as doors benefit from routine upkeep, rooflights also require regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
How Should You Maintain Rooflights in Uckfield?
Yes, regular maintenance of rooflights is necessary to prevent leaks and keep natural light clear in any Uckfield property. We recommend cleaning the glass inside and out with a gentle cleaner or mild soapy water to remove grime and dust, inspecting seals and flashing each year for cracks or gaps that could let in water, and clearing gutters and roof channels around the rooflight to avoid blockages. For opening rooflights, lubricate hinges and locking mechanisms annually to keep them working smoothly. An annual inspection by a windows and door specialist Uckfield like Bowalker Windows Limited helps identify early signs of wear or damage, protecting your investment and supporting the long-term function of your rooflight.
If maintenance is no longer sufficient and your rooflight needs replacing, it is possible to upgrade the unit without altering the original roof opening.
Can an Existing Rooflight Be Replaced Without Changing the Roof Opening?
Yes, an existing rooflight can be replaced without changing the roof opening if the new unit matches the size and shape of the current opening and complies with relevant building regulations. For most properties, this means selecting a replacement rooflight that fits the existing structural aperture, ensuring proper weather resistance, and meeting standards for insulation and safety. Bowalker Windows Limited holds FENSA registration (Reg: 33081) and membership in the Plastic Window Federation. Arrange a site assessment to confirm compatibility and compliance before proceeding with any rooflight replacement.
To ensure a smooth and efficient site assessment, it is important to prepare your home and household in advance of the appointment.
How Should You Prepare for Your Uckfield Windows and Door Specialist's Visit?
- Clear access to all windows and doors by moving furniture, curtains, and blinds away from the frames.
- Secure pets in a separate room or area before the appointment.
- Prepare a list of questions or concerns about window and door styles, materials, or installation details.
- Arrange for someone with decision-making authority to be present during the visit.
