Timber Entrance Doors
Bringing timeless character and commanding curb appeal to the front of your home, timber entrance doors combine natural aesthetic warmth with robust physical security. A solid or glazed timber front door can be tailored with traditional or contemporary panel designs, architectural ironmongery, and high-performance weather-sealing to protect your entryway from the elements. Bowalker installs and replaces timber entrance doors with durable hardwood or softwood frames, advanced multi-point locking mechanisms, and, where appropriate, secure glazing options, ensuring your entrance remains energy-efficient, weather-resistant, and visually striking.
Learn More →Solar Glass Timber Doors
Solar Glass Timber Doors
Specialist solar-control coatings, combined with natural timber framing, provide effective heat rejection in solar-glass timber doors whilst maintaining high levels of natural daylight. High-performance solar glass door systems can reduce excessive solar heat gain and glare by up to 60%, depending on the specific glass tint, coating technology, and overall system specification. For each solar glass timber door installation or replacement, our team matches the glazing with compatible engineered timber frames, secure hardware, and carefully aligned panels suited to the opening dimensions and required performance.
Learn More →Acoustic Glass Timber Doors
Acoustic Glass Timber Doors
Sound-dampening acoustic interlayers, combined with heavy-duty timber framing, provide significant noise reduction in acoustic glass timber doors whilst delivering a warm, traditional or contemporary aesthetic. High-performance acoustic glass door systems can achieve sound reduction ratings of up to 45 dB, depending on the asymmetric glass thickness, acoustic laminate layers, and overall system specification. Bowalker's in-house team installs and replaces acoustic glass timber doors with compatible weather-sealed frames, secure hardware, and precisely aligned panels specified around the opening dimensions and required acoustic performance.
Learn More →Obscure Glass Timber Doors
Obscure Glass Timber Doors
Textured or privacy glazing, combined with timber construction, provides greater visual screening in obscure-glass timber doors whilst allowing natural light to pass through the glazed sections. Obscure glass can be specified in various patterns and privacy levels, allowing homeowners to balance light transmission and visibility based on the timber door's position and intended use. We install and replace obscure glass timber doors with compatible timber frames, suitable safety glazing where required, secure hardware, and carefully fitted glazed panels selected to suit the opening dimensions and privacy requirements.
Learn More →Patterned Glass Timber Doors
Patterned Glass Timber Doors
Decorative textured glass, combined with structural timber framing, provides a unique visual character to patterned glass timber doors whilst offering privacy and diffusing light. High-performance patterned glass door systems can achieve distinctive designs and surface relief options, depending on the embossed pattern style, glass thickness, and overall system specification. For patterned glass timber doors, Bowalker installs and replaces compatible systems using robust timber frames, secure hardware, and aligned glazed panels matched to the opening dimensions and selected design.
Learn More →Triple Glazed Timber Doors
Triple Glazed Timber Doors
Three panes of glass, separated by two insulating cavities, combined with premium timber framing, provide enhanced thermal insulation in triple-glazed timber doors whilst retaining natural wood aesthetics. High-performance triple-glazed timber door systems can achieve whole-door U-values of around 0.8 W/m²K, depending on the frame, glass configuration, and overall system specification. Our qualified installers at Bowalker complete the entire replacement and fitting process using your specified materials, ensuring airtight performance, secure multi-point locking, and optimal structural support.
Learn More →Toughened Glass Timber Doors
Toughened Glass Timber Doors
Safety-grade thermally treated glass combined with robust timber framing provides high impact resistance in toughened-glass timber doors whilst meeting applicable glazing safety requirements. High-performance toughened glass can provide substantially greater resistance to mechanical and thermal stress than standard annealed glass, depending on the tempering process, glass thickness, and overall specification. Using compatible timber frames, secure hardware, and carefully positioned glazed panels, Bowalker installs and replaces toughened glass timber doors to match the opening dimensions and required door specifications.
Learn More →Satin Glass Timber Doors
Satin Glass Timber Doors
Smooth acid-treated frosted glass, combined with sleek timber framing, provides a soft, matte finish in satin glass timber doors whilst diffusing light evenly across interior and exterior spaces. High-performance satin glass door systems can achieve an elegant, velvety appearance whilst providing optimal privacy, depending on the chemical etching treatment, glass density, and overall system specifications. Our team of installers oversees the complete setup of your timber doors, ensuring your frosted architectural glazing fits snugly and operates smoothly.
Learn More →Bifold Timber Doors
Bifold Timber Doors
Multiple hinged timber panels fold and stack to one or both sides when open, creating wide openings between interior and exterior spaces whilst retaining the natural appearance and structural qualities of timber construction. Bifold timber doors can use bottom-rolling or top-hung track systems, depending on the selected configuration, with panel dimensions, hinges, running gear, and locking hardware specified based on the width and layout of the opening. Bowalker installs and replaces bifold timber doors with compatible track systems, secure multipoint locking, weather-resistant seals and carefully aligned timber panels for smooth opening and closing.
Learn More →French Timber Doors
French Timber Doors
Two hinged timber door leaves swing inward or outward to create a wider opening than a single entrance door, making French timber doors suitable for patios, gardens and other openings where a traditional double-door configuration is required. Multipoint locking systems can secure the active door at multiple points, while suitable bolts secure the inactive leaf to the timber frame when the doors are closed. Bowalker installs and replaces French timber doors with compatible hinges, secure locking hardware, weather-resistant perimeter seals, and accurately aligned timber frames and door leaves.
Learn More →Timber Commercial Doors
Timber Commercial Doors
Where commercial properties require a traditional appearance alongside specification-led performance, timber commercial doors suit offices, hospitality buildings, communal developments, education settings, and refurbishment projects. Bowalker fits and replaces timber doors according to the required dimensions, glazing, hardware, access arrangements, and building use. Commercial installations receive accurate frame alignment, secure ironmongery, perimeter sealing, and final operational checks to support reliable service in entrances exposed to repeated daily use.

Read moreBowalker replaced all of our windows and patio doors in November. They are very efficient and got the job done in the pouring rain but did it quick and professionally. We had a couple of teething issues with the doors after completion and they did not hesitate to come out and rectify the issue. Excellent customer service and a friendly team. Would highly recommend
Read moreWe had a total of 6 windows fitted at end of June 2025 (2 bathroom(frosted), 1 hallway,1 dining room and two big bay windows complete with 2 window boards). Took 5 days in total as bay windows were load bearing ,the window boards were not in warehouse so took extra time to arrive and fit , the silicone/mastic finish wasn’t great and they cut one end of a window board wrong , but after a telephone call a new team of fitters came out and rectified the mistakes of original fitters that we had noticed , a window pane had got scratched in delivery so they replaced that as well. This was a big job that entailed some mistakes but over time was rectified by bowalker windows by sending out another team of fitters to fix some minor mistakes of original fitters . We went on a recommendation from a work colleague who had used Bowalker windows in the past as were very good. Maybe just improve your fitters mastic silicone skills a bit more but is is an old house of 110 years and nothing is level in this house

Frequently Asked Questions
What Are Timber Doors?
Timber doors are custom-crafted from natural hardwood or softwood, combining traditional joinery techniques with high-performance modern engineering. They provide exceptional structural strength, natural thermal insulation, and a classic architectural appearance that suits both heritage properties and contemporary homes.
How Long Does Timber Door Installation Take?
Timber door installation takes around 3 to 6 hours for a standard door, depending on the size, frame condition, and fitting requirements. Larger bifold, French, or bespoke timber door systems may require a full day for precise structural alignment, hardware fitting, and weather-sealing. Our in-house installers complete the fitting, sealing, hardware adjustment, and final operational checks before handing over the completed installation.
How Do You Clean a Timber Door?
Clean timber doors with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft microfibre cloth, gently wiping both the glazing and the timber frame to remove surface dirt and grime. Avoid abrasive scouring pads, harsh chemical solvents, or power washers that could strip protective finishes or damage the natural wood grain. Wipe down the timber dry with a clean cloth, check weather seals regularly, and reapply appropriate wood treatments or finishes as needed to preserve moisture resistance and appearance.
How Do You Choose the Right Timber Door for Your Home?
Choose the right timber door by considering your property’s architectural style, exposure to the elements, required security level, and whether you prefer an entrance, bifold, or French door configuration. Selecting durable hardwood or treated softwood, appropriate glazing (such as acoustic or triple glazing), and suitable hardware ensures the door performs reliably while complementing your home’s aesthetic. During your consultation, we assess the structural opening and recommend a timber door design that balances performance, durability, and visual appeal.
What Timber Door Design Ideas Should You Consider for Your Home?
Consider timber door design ideas such as solid-panelled entrance doors with traditional ironmongery for historic character, or contemporary glazed timber bifold doors to maximise light and connect indoor and outdoor spaces. French doors offer a timeless double-door arrangement for patios and garden rooms, while sidelights, transom windows, and various wood stains or paint finishes can further customise the appearance. Matching frame profiles and finishes to your existing windows ensures a cohesive exterior aesthetic.
What Guarantee Do You Provide on Timber Door Installation?
Bowalker provides a 10-year insurance-backed guarantee on qualifying timber door installation and replacement work. Our in-house installers manage each project from initial measurement through to final fitting, ensuring consistent workmanship, secure multi-point locking, and accurate installation. Where applicable, we address relevant Building Regulations requirements and FENSA compliance during the installation process.
